Girls in STEMM Graduation: Where Dreams Take Flight

May 14, 2025

The 2024-25 cohort of the Girls in STEMM program was successfully completed. Participants from Nord Anglia International School Shanghai Pudong, Dulwich College Shanghai Pudong, Concordia International School Shanghai, Canadian International School of Beijing, International School of Beijing, and Dulwich College Beijing gathered together in Shanghai and Beijing for fun and memorable closing ceremonines.

Reflection

Students created videos for their reflections on their learnings and experiences during this program. It was impressive how students learned from the company representatives and female role models and set clearer goals for their majors or career paths.

Mentorship Opportunity

Arshia (Year 12, DCB) found mentors from United Family Health through the GIS program to guide her and her teammates on their school project with expert feedback, professional research techniques, and accurate data and terminology. This set a great example of how GIS participants can leverage Synpact resources and the GIS network to explore more possibilities.

Student Ambassadors

The Girls in STEMM program introduced a Student Ambassador initiative this year. Four students from three schools became the first ever Student Ambassaodrs, they are Jennifer Wang (Grade 11, CISB), Rucha Kulkarni (Grade 11, CISB), Mingming Bao (Grade 11, ISB), and Victoria Fan (Grade 11, NAIS). They faciliated the teachers to lead and manage the new cohort on activities like: pre-visit exercises or post-visit science groups, gaining valuable experiences on public speaking and leadership. Their courage not only inspired their peers in the cohort, but they also explored best practices for future Ambassadors, inspiring more girls to take leadership.

The Choices that built your path

Synpact invited Eva Hsu and Kudzai Mawoneke, both entrepreneurs in Shanghai, and Ming Cong, Director of Communications of Microsoft China, and Lizabeth Bamgboye, Schwarzman Scholar at Tsinghua University in Beijing, to the graduation ceremony to share about the choices that built their paths. We understand that with graduation and college application, a lot of students were uncertain about making choices and anxious about their future. Through the personal stories shared by the speakers, the students could find courage to face changes, take challenges, and pursue their passion.

Interactive Discussion

Students break into groups to discuss with speakers on topics including entrepreneuship, living in a mixed-culture environment, AI ethics, etc.

Our Impact

We believe in helping more girls to build confidence and access opportunities. The Girls in STEMM program kindles the curiosity for Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, and Medicine within girls, and creates a community to support them achieve better and go gurther together!

“Thanks for hosting us during the Girls in STEMM Program. Visiting your company gave me a unique perspective on the real-world impact of STEMM. The chance to hear from you and your team about their diverse roles and career journeys was both eye opening and motivating”.
