Girls in STEMM: 2023 Henkel Visit

On November 16th, 2023, teen girls from Nord Angliia International School and Dulwich College Shanghai had an unique opportunity to explore the leading German company–Henkel.

The day commenced with an engaging agenda, starting with a warm welcome from Thomas Eiting, Head of Henkel HCB R&D Asia. Combined with his personal study and career path in science and the history development in Henkel, he lively showed us a scientist path. After, girls had the chance to dress up for the lab journey, setting the stage for a day filled with exploration and learning in Henkel with its history and technology under the guidance of Alicia Sun, Head of Henkel HCB R&D Greater China.

Previous Next The hands-on experiments were a highlight, allowing the girls to create their own shampoo, design personalized hair oil, and assemble packaging. A 3D printing introduction and a visit to the laundry room added a technological dimension to girls’ exploration.

After a productive lab tour, the visit featured a captivating career talk, where female scientists who work in Henkel for years shared their personal journeys and the joys of working at Henkel. This insight into the world of science and innovation aimed to inspire the next generation of female leaders.

The day concluded with valuable insights from Thomas Eiting, who emphasized the importance of girls embracing where their passions are and develop into a scientist bravely if they wish. One of the highlights of the GIS program was the opportunity for the girls to experiment with the real lab work and life and met with the real female scientist and HR in STEMM industries.
