Girls in STEMM Program Visit at HPE China: Exploring the Future of AI
April 10, 2025
On the sunny afternoon of April 10th, 2025, amidst the vibrant spring ambiance, 27 female students from Beijing International School of Shunyi (ISB), Canadian International School of Beijing (CISB), and Dulwich College Beijing (DCB) jointly embarked on the final exploration journey of the 2024 – 2025 STEMM Program – stepping into HPE China to decode the charm of tech enterprises, especially the current hot AI trend, and envision the blueprint for the coordinated development of artificial intelligence and technology!

Opening: A Tech Dialogue Breaking Gender Boundaries
At the beginning of the event, HPE HR and Women’s Network, also the planning team of the HPE STEMM Program, warmly welcomed the students and teachers to HPE China, kicking off today’s journey of exploring the future of AI. Michael ZHU, HPE’s Global Vice President and Managing Director of China, delivered a fascinating sharing on the history and development of HPE. With a set of data, he made everyone present aware that currently, the average proportion of female employees in top 500 global technology companies is 29%, and HPE is actively working to change this situation, with over 33% of its global team members being female, and HPE initiated more than 7 programs to support women’s development in STEM field. He encouraged the girls present, you hold the keys to changing the future in your hands, don’t be defined by any labels.

Hardware Disassembly: Uncovering the Truth of Tech through “Disassembly”
Subsequently, two tech experts from HPE, Dongping XIE and Xingzhao ZHANG, jointly unveiled the mystery of HPE’s network hardware devices for the students. They not only explained the working principles of the devices in detail but also guided the students to work in groups to disassemble network routers (APs). The students grabbed tools and “took apart” three differently sized routers, completing a “violent decryption” to witness the core components supporting the hardware operation with their own eyes. Through this “disassembly-based learning,” they broke down the barriers of hardware cognition, perfectly integrating theoretical knowledge with practical operation, making learning both fun and educational.

Office Exploration: Corporate Culture of a Tech Company
After getting to know the truth behind the company’s hardware products, GTM team engineer Ziwei CHENG led the students out of the conference room to visit HPE’s server exhibits and Feifei LI from HR team show students around the employee lounge area, allowing the students to feel that tech enterprises not only need to provide high-quality products in hardware but also demonstrate profound care for their employees, making their software services (referring to the overall work environment and employee experience) even more heartwarming. From annual family days to quarterly events and occasional surprises, HPE exemplifies the harmonious balance between work and life with practical actions, enabling every employee to find a sense of belonging here. The students couldn’t help but marvel that tech companies are more human-centered than they had imagined.

Debate Competition: The Battle over AI’s Pros and Cons
The highlight of the event was undoubtedly the fiery debate competition! Cross-school mixed “pro and con teams” each sent three debaters to participate in the debate centered around “The Pros and Cons of AI in Learning and Education.” Each team carefully prepared with the inspiration and guidance of HPE leader and technical expert, engaging in a heated argument with sharp words and strong arguments. Ultimately, the best debater was selected through a full-room vote, and the atmosphere was electric. HPE technical expert Tao LI summary and sharing after the debate also deepened the students’ understanding of AI, making it more diverse and comprehensive!

Quiz Competition: A Knowledge Challenge
As the event drew to a close, the quiz competition pushed the atmosphere to a new climax! The three groups of students were ready to go, racing against time to answer all the questions about today’s visit and learning. Sparks of wisdom collided here, and the power of knowledge was on full display. The event concluded amidst laughter and joy, leaving behind unforgettable memories.

Surprise: The Machine Dog Takes Center Stage
When demonstrating the more secure and efficient connection of HPE Networking product to intelligent edge products, the AI Robot Dog was activated, as the most tech-savvy special guest, the “quadruped star” AI robot dog stole the show with its blend of technology and cuteness! From guiding tours and interacting to leading the visit to the company’s leisure activity area and “observing” the debate, its flexible posture showcased HPE intelligence solution, leaving the students exclaiming, “So Amazing, So Cool!”

Epilogue: Not the End, but the Beginning
HPE China has supported the Synpact Girls in STEMM Program for four consecutive years, helping nearly 200 girls build their dreams in the tech field. As a socially responsible enterprise, HPE has always been committed to building bridges for girls to the tech field, encouraging them to bravely pursue their dreams and jointly create a future of technology!
