A Unique Journey of Technological Exploration Unfolds at ConocoPhillips China!
On the afternoon of March 17, 2025, a unique journey of technological exploration grandly commenced at ConocoPhillips China! Thirty-two outstanding female students from Beijing International School of Shunyi, Canadian International School of Beijing, Dulwich College Beijing and Beijing No. 4 High School International Department gathered together to participate in this event meticulously organized by ConocoPhillips China and the Synpact STEMM Program.
This event aimed to help the students find clearer direction for their future university major choices and career planning through the immersive practice of the STEMM program. Here, they would connect closely with technology, experience the charm of STEMM, and lay a solid foundation for their future careers.
Opening Sharing: Lydia Zhou –VP of HR & Communications
At the beginning of the event, Ms. Lydia Zhou, Vice President of Human Resources and Communications at ConocoPhillips China, shared her career development journey and life experiences with the students. In a warm and relatable tone, Lydia shared her growth path in the workplace and how she found her own rhythm in balancing work and life. Her story inspired every young woman present, filling them with anticipation and hope for the future.

Interactive Session: Javier Pardo – VP of Capital Projects and Asset Management
Next, as the sole male ally of the day, Mr. Javier Pardo, Vice President of Capital Projects and Asset Management at ConocoPhillips China, led a unique interactive session. He shared his experiences working and living in different countries, along with valuable insights from his personal career development. Subsequently, Javier guided the students through an engaging experiment: cleaning a coffee-stained cloth using different methods, then observing and discussing the varied results. The students participated actively, voicing their thoughts enthusiastically, creating a vibrant atmosphere. Furthermore, Javier introduced ConocoPhillips’ development history and major ongoing projects in China. Through vivid images, he showed the students vessels and equipment used for offshore exploration and oil production, giving them a more intuitive understanding of the oil industry’s operations.
Office Tour: Experiencing the Multinational Corporate Atmosphere
Afterwards, led by staff members, the students toured the offices of ConocoPhillips China, gaining firsthand experience of the work environment and atmosphere in a multinational company. They saw areas dedicated for employee relaxation and parent-child interaction, feeling the company’s care and respect for its staff. This open and inclusive corporate culture sparked greater anticipation and aspiration for their future workplaces among the students.

Sharing Female Power: Three Outstanding Women Representatives
Following the tour, the students returned to the conference room for a sharing session with three remarkable women. Geology Consultant Helen Lang, Completions Engineer Susan Gou, and Executive Assistant to the President Alma Liu shared their respective career and life experiences. Their stories, filled with challenges and perseverance, showcased the boundless possibilities and outstanding achievement of women in STEMM fields. The students listened with keen interest, feeling deeply inspired.

Knowledge Quiz: Reviewing and Reinforcing Learning
Finally, the event concluded with a lively knowledge quiz. Having learned about the company background and professional knowledge in a short period, the students now had the chance to showcase their understanding. The atmosphere was tense and exciting, with students enthusiastically raising their hands to answer, demonstrating their talent and intellect.
